Ahead of the Independence Day celebrations on August 15, around 150 bikers flagged off a rally under the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign on Sunday from the outskirts of Pune. They are headed for Mumbai where they will be joined by more bikers before they stop the rally at the Gateway of India.
The bikers also aim to raise awareness on traffic rules and safety measures like wearing helmets at their rally.
Several bike rallies have been taking place ahead of the Independence Day celebrations. On Saturday, 750 bikers took out a Tiranga Yatra under the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign in New Delhi.
Earlier, MPs participated in a Tiranga bike rally that was held on August 3 to pay tribute to the freedom fighters as part of the Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav. The rally started at Red Fort.
HAR GHAR TIRANGA CAMPAIGN
Ahead of the 75th Independence Day this year, the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi last month. It aims at evoking a feeling of patriotism by exhorting people across the country to hoist the national flag between August 13 and 15, when the country completes 75 years of its independence.
Launching the campaign, PM Modi had said in a tweet that it will “deepen our connect with the national flag”.
