The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has mandated all UPI-based apps to receive the user’s consent before capturing their location.
It also said the option to enable or revoke the consent to share the location should also be mandatorily provided for the app to the users.
“If the customer has already given consent to share the location to the UPI apps initially, while availing the services, and then subsequently wants to revoke the consent, the same should also be permitted without denying the UPI services to the customer. Apps should continue to provide the UPI services even after the customer has revoked the consent for sharing the location/ geographical details for the app,” the NPCI said in a statement dated July 5.

Kashmir sees spike of 2000% in Heroine abuse
Every hour, a new drug addict walks into a deaddiction centre in Jammu and Kashmir. In 2016, the Oral Substitution Therapy (OST) Centre at the Government Medical College in Srinagar reported only 489 cases, which grew seven times in 2017 to 3,000. In 2019, the number climbed to 7,000 and crossed the 10,000 mark in 2021 with an overall 2,000% spike in the last five years.
Officials say the number of drug addicts in the union territory is on a “scary constant rise”. What’s more worrying, they say, is that these patients range from across the socioeconomic classes, from different regions in J&K, and from the age group as young as ten to twelve years.

One page reply on PM care fund Delhi High court slam
Terming the question regarding legal structure of PM CARES Fund ‘important’, the Delhi High Court Tuesday took exception to a ‘one-page’ reply by the authorities in response to a petition seeking that PM CARES Fund be declared as ‘The State’ under Article 12 of the Constitution of India.
You have filed a reply in the case. A one page to such an important issue? It is only a one page reply. The affidavit of one Pradeep Kumar Srivastava (Under Secretary, Prime Minister’s Office). Nothing beyond that? Such an important issue and one page reply is there. Whatever the learned senior (for petitioner) is arguing, there is not even a whisper about it in the reply,’ said the division bench of Chief Justice Satish Chandra Sharma and Justice Subramonium Prasad, while addressing Solicitor General Tushar Mehta and other central government counsel.
Directing the authorities to file ‘a detailed and exhaustive reply’ within four weeks, the court listed the matter for hearing on September 16. ‘You file a proper reply. The issue is not that simple. We need an exhaustive reply. Learned SG, let a proper reply be there because this matter will travel to the apex court also. We will have to pass an order on each and every point raised,’ added the court.

Bought 4 lakh INR Rifle over Chinkara hunting – Lawrence bisnoi
Gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, who is being questioned in connection with the assassination of popular singer Sidhu Moosewala, has allegedly revealed during interrogation that he “wanted to kill” Bollywood actor Salman Khan in 2018.
Sources in the Delhi Police’s Special Cell said Bishnoi told the police he wanted to kill Salman Khan over the 1998 Chinkara poaching case in Rajasthan’s Jodhpur during the shooting of Hum Saath Saath Hain.
It was reported last month that three members of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang delivered a letter threatening Salman Khan and his father Salim Khan. The letter had reportedly threatened that Salman Khan and his father would meet the fate of Moosewala, who was killed in broad daylight in Punjab’s Mansa on May 29.
Bishnoi reportedly said during interrogation that Chinkara or blackbucks are dear to the Bishnoi community in Haryana, Rajasthan and Punjab.
Khan was sentenced by a Jodhpur court in April 2018 to five years in jail for killing two blackbucks in October 1998. The actor has challenged the conviction. Khan was lodged for some time in the Jodhpur jail in connection with the case and was later shifted to Bharatpur jail.
