By India Today Web Desk: Former India cricketer has responded to Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, after he took a cheeky dig at India’s 10-wicket loss to England in the semi-final of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.
Pathan took to social media to reply to Sharif’s tweet, saying the difference between us is that we get happy when we win and you get happy when others lose.
“The difference between us is that we get happy when we win and you get happy when others lose. That is why you can’t focus on building your own nation,” Pathan posted on Twitter.
Aap mein or hum mein fark yehi hai. Hum apni khushi se khush or aap dusre ke taklif se. Is liye khud ke mulk ko behtar karne pe dhyan nahi hai.— Irfan Pathan (@IrfanPathan) November 12, 2022
Pathan’s reply came after Sharif posted on Twitter referring to India’s one-sided defeat in the semi-final to England and their 10-wicket defeat to Pakistan in the Super 12 stage of last year’s T20 World Cup while describing the line-up of Sunday’s final in Melbourne.
“So, this Sunday, it’s 152/0 vs 170/0,” Sharif said in a tweet after India’s loss to England in the semi-final.
So, this Sunday, it’s:
152/0 vs 170/0
This is not the first time the Pakistan PM shared his views on cricket in T20 World Cup 2022 as he had posted about the “Pak Bean” issue that went viral after Pakistan’s shock loss to Zimbabwe. Sharif responded to Zimbabwe President Emmerson Mnangagwa took a jibe at Pakistan over the fake Mr. Bean trip to the African country.
India set an unwanted record as they became the first team to be beaten by 10 wickets in T20 World Cups more than once.
There were plenty of expectations from the team as they had headed into the T20 World Cup under Rohit Sharma, who tasted plenty of success in the Indian Premier League. After a strong start to the campaign wherein India defeated arch-rivals Pakistan in a Super 12 match, India topped the Super 12 Group 2 with 4 wins from 5 matches with their only defeat coming against South Africa.
However, they fell to a 10-wicket defeat against England, who will now face Pakistan in the T20 World Cup final in Melbourne.
